Scrap Trading International is a family owned and operated scrap metal company located in Houston, Texas. With over 40 years of experience, we have worked with oil and gas, chemical applications, machine shops, welding, fabricating, steel and pipe companies. We are headquartered in the northeast part of Houston and we are dedicated to buying scrap metal, steel and alloys directly from industry sources in and around the Houston area.

Our founder and president, Mike Melnik, founded Hou-Tex Metals in 1979 and later merged with a publicly traded, national scrap company, Metal Management. In 2011, Mike set out to re-enter the scrap metal recycling industry with his vast experience and new ideas and started Scrap Trading International (STI) with his sons, Ilan & Ryan.

Our mission is to maintain a standard of excellence providing competitive pricing as well as the best and most reliable service to our customers, the safest work spaces for our employees, and to be kind to mother nature by implementing environmentally friendly practices to keep our surrounding community secure.
